লাইভ নারায়ণগঞ্জ: নারায়ণগঞ্জ সদর উপজেলার গুরুত্বপূর্ণ কুতুবপুর ইউনিয়নকে অবিলম্বে নারায়ণগঞ্জ সিটি কর্পোরেশন (এনসিসি)-এর আওতাভুক্ত করার দাবি জানিয়েছে ‘কুতুবপুর ইউনিয়ন নারায়ণগঞ্জ সিটি কর্পোরেশন অন্তর্ভুক্তি বাস্তবায়ন কমিটি’। নেতারা অভিযোগ করেছেন, ভৌগোলিক গুরুত্ব থাকা সত্ত্বেও প্রায় ৩ লক্ষাধিক লোক নাগরিক সুবিধা থেকে বঞ্চিত হচ্ছেন।
মঙ্গলবার (২১ অক্টোবর) স্থানীয় একটি কমিউনিটি সেন্টারে অনুষ্ঠিত এক সাংবাদিক সম্মেলন থেকে কমিটি এই হুঁশিয়ারি উচ্চারণ করেছে।
কমিটির নেতারা দাবি করেন, কুতুবপুর ইউনিয়ন অর্থনৈতিক ও সামাজিক দিক থেকে অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। ফতুল্লা-দাপাইদ্রাক, বক্তাবলী, কাশিপুর, পাগলা, জালকুড়ি সহ ১২টি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ এলাকা এখানে অবস্থিত, যেখানে শিল্প-বাণিজ্য, আবাসন ও সরকারি-বেসরকারি প্রতিষ্ঠান রয়েছে।
নেতৃবৃন্দ উল্লেখ করেন, কুতুবপুর জেলা শহর থেকে মাত্র ৫ কিলোমিটার দূরত্বে অবস্থিত এবং এর প্রতিটি ওয়ার্ডেই শহর এলাকার সকল বৈশিষ্ট্য বিদ্যমান। কিন্তু সিটি কর্পোরেশনের সুবিধা না পাওয়ায় এলাকার নাগরিক পরিষেবা যেমন—শিক্ষা, স্বাস্থ্য, পয়ঃনিষ্কাশনসহ অন্যান্য মৌলিক সুবিধা মারাত্মকভাবে ব্যাহত হচ্ছে।
কমিটির পক্ষ থেকে জানানো হয়, তারা এই দাবি নিয়ে ইতিপূর্বে নারায়ণগঞ্জ সিটি কর্পোরেশনের মেয়র ও সংশ্লিষ্ট কর্তৃপক্ষকে একটি আইনি নোটিশও প্রেরণ করেছেন।
সংবাদ সম্মেলনে নেতারা ২০১৭ ও ২০২১ সালের স্থানীয় সরকার (সিটি কর্পোরেশন) আইন অনুযায়ী কুতুবপুরকে এনসিসি-তে অন্তর্ভুক্ত করার জোর দাবি জানান। তারা স্পষ্ট জানিয়ে দেন, দাবি আদায় না হলে তারা বৃহত্তর আন্দোলনে নামবেন এবং প্রয়োজনে উচ্চ আদালতের দ্বারস্থ হবেন।
